artist bio

AMANDA BRIDGES holds a Bachelor of Fine Art from Western Kentucky University, where her main emphasis of study was the human figure. After graduation, Amanda worked for the corporate world as a user interface designer, graphic artist and technical writer. She left corporate life in 2006 to pursue art full-time and opened hippie art chick studios.

Amanda recently has begun work on a series of art based on the strong feminine mystique. The first of these being a 30"x42" tapestry representing mother earth. She also has begun creating a series of charcoal drawings with plans to extend and explore the images through woodblock prints and ceramic sculptures.

Amanda is a former juried member of the Kentucky Guild of Artists and Craftsmen. She is a current member of the Handweavers Guild of America, the Spinning & Weaving Association, the American Tapestry Alliance and the Friendship Spinners. Amanda has most recently juried into the Winchester Art Guild in Winchester KY. She currently lives in Winchester Kentucky and teaches fiber arts and clay workshops throughout the central Kentucky area.
